Contemporary Pilates

FOR THE MODERN WORLD

Contemporary Pilates is a modern, mindful approach to Pilates movement. The unique emphasis of the Pilates method lies within the correct alignment of the body.

Controlled, flowing movements, coordinated with focused breathing, forms the basis of all Pilates practice.

The key lies in the quality of movement.

WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY PILATES?

Contemporary Pilates

In 1918 Joseph Pilates, a German born physical trainer, developed a unique approach to exercise to successfully rehabilitate injured soldiers. He devoted his life to his method and in 1926 opened a studio in New York City which attracted prominent athletes, actors and ballet dancers to rehabilitate following injury.

Whilst staying true to the original Pilates principles, Contemporary Pilates has evolved in line with current knowledge of anatomy and an understanding of how modern lifestyles can adversely affect our posture and well being.
